A Renaissance man by design and a strategist by profession, Matthias has created, accelerated and transformed brands for the last 25 years. He held Managing Director positions at the much-awarded creative agencies Pixelpark and Scholz & Friends and has worked for global heavyweights across all industries, from automotive to aviation, real estate to travel, finance, telecommunications, clean energy and more.

Matthias joined the world of hospitality in 2004 as Director of Global Marketing and Product Development at Design Hotels, shaping the personality and appearance of the brand to this day. Since opening his independent practice in 2007 he has been behind some of the most exciting hotel projects in the industry, using his unique talent to anticipate the big shifts in consumer behaviour and translating this into concepts which have been both economically successful and critically acclaimed.

References range from the experimental pop up hotel to the billion-dollar-valued global hotel group, including investor darlings like citizenM and 25hours Hotels as well as some of the finest luxury properties in the world like Berlins Das Stue or The Setai in Miami.

Matthias is working on multiple levels of strategy development, product innovation and customer experience, his primary fields of interest are hospitality, real estate based ecosystems, future of work and future cities & future living. He is currently advising brands and startups in Europe, the Americas, Asia and Australia.
He is also founding partner of Denizen. Denizen is developing the Next Generation Neighborhood, featuring Denizen Spaces, a two-way online marketplace for dispersed productive spaces following the sharing economy model and Denizen Houses, 3rd places that offer space, service and convenience on demand or via subscription for hyperlocal communities
